setting up new tank

hi just in the prosess of settig up a new tank a bit confussed on what medium to use , hope to keep 5 discus in a 50g tank any advice

Can you clarify what you mean exactly by 'medium'. Are you refering to filter medium, substrate ??

I think he is refering to filter medium..

For a 50gallon i'd get a cannister filter...i reccommend trying to get something that does up-to 1000L.. :wink:

Get some charcoal, sponge and some biological filtration.... :D

I have a back drop filter and I use Ceramic noodles, filter wool, bio sponge and eheim substrate with a couple of bags of peat...

others use bio balls....

Oh!!!! and if you meant substrate...

some people go barebottom (nothing)
others gravel, others pool filter sand others choose differently again...
it is really your choice....:-)
