spawning...fertilising eggs how much time

Hi All :lol: :D

female spawned but the male did not fertilise straight away, i think about 4 hrs later he got interested, but am not sure as i had to go out (instead of watching)

how much time (if any) can go by from the time that the time of female spawned and male fertilised the eggs and still have a successful outcome???

Jim it actually depends on the hardness of the water.

The membrane of the egg is actually absorbing water and hopefully sperm from the male from the moment the egg is laid, for around 20 to 30 minutes, if I remember correctly.

Don't think they would last 4 hours, but it's possible that they were still spawning 4 hours later.
