Hi All,

Will i see a difference in the water quality or anything ? if so how soon ?

I installed a 5Watt Pondmaster UV on my 200l tank and am just wondering if there will be any obvious effects or whether it is all microbe sized and invisible to the eye.

Was my understanding that you only really need to use a UV if you suffer from green water of if you have some serious algae. However many people use em all the time.

I think if your tank already is looking good you wont see any changes.

With a UV that size it is highly unlikely that you will have a noticeable improvement.

Try to upgrade to a bigger size 18W for example

A 5watt will be ok for now though ... wont it ?

I intend to move it down to my other tank and upgrade this one, but i wanted to get something short term for this tank just in case as i really am adverse to the idea of having any problems in the tank.

If i was to get a higher wattage .. say 18w would i see any difference, or is the difference caused by UV invisible to the eye ?

I notice that the water becomes more polished. What i mean is that it look a lot clearer and not milky.
