Hi Everyone,

Just quickly, is there any reason why it must be a bare bottom tank?

It doesn't need to be BB tank just everyones has BB becuase it's easy to clean and keep the water spec's very good.

I have a semi planted tank with discus and getting great growth but does tank extra to clean but i prefer planted LOL. I find if you with planted very busy large plants that absorb nutrients alot will help with keeping the tank spec"s in check.

HTH :D

Hi Mak,

It does not have to be a bare bottom but being BB means it is much easier to clean and keep clean.

If there is a high bacteria count in the water discus are very susceptible to diseases.

plus in a BB, fry and wrigglers don't get lost as easy

and you can vac the floor in a matter of seconds not minutes

thats all

All of the above.

Also - by virtue of having a BB tank, it is easier to keep clean thus beeter water quality thus better growth and less death of fry.
