Water Changes

Hi Everyone,

I just thought a poll on water changes would be a good idea, BUT also - taking into account the of litres of water per discus you have.

So mine would be 4 discus of 4 inches in length, with 42L of water each - changing around 25% twice a week, with another 25% change on top of that once a fortnight.

Juvie's minimum %75 twice per day.

i waterchange around 69-70% daily on juvis

every 3rd day for adults around 30%

I currently only have juvies and i change 50% once a day.

I didnt think there would be that many people making daily water changes - particularly of those kinds of sizes (do you use filtration?)

I would have thought 10% a day would be plenty but hmmmm..

I only use sponge filter for breeding tank ....

A cannister for juvie tank ....

LOL 10% ?? I guess theres no such thing as "go slow on H2O" here ... hehehe

I try and do around 40-50% WC per day, when feeding 4 -5 times a day with frozen foods like BH, BS and BW I find it keeps the water specs in check and stable. Adults you could ease back on water changes and feeding, but if you want big adult discus it takes lots meaty foods and lots of good WC's when they are juvies IMO.

I have a 240L discus tank with some other community fish, I do about 25% water change every 2nd or 3rd day, or sooner if the discus have been pigs or if giving them brine shrimp clouds the water.

hi everyone, i have a 500lt tank, theres 11discus about(8X5inch and 3X4inch), 8 clown loach, 15 cardinals, 4 altums, 4 cory's, 5 red colour rainbows(i think salmon rainbow? not sure)

i do about 200litres water change each week, i do the gravel suction and i get about six 20litres bucket of very black water!
