I have a terracotta tiled roof and was thinking if I cleaned the tiles and more importantly the gutters on half the house (1/2" of dirt in them) could I collect the water from my roof for the fish tank.

You will have problems like me with ur water it has a ph of like 5.5 - 6.0 and no KH or GH and there is no minerals in the water o if u can use normal water from your tap I would use that

Bad Inferno,

The problem these days with rain water is pollution.
this is not to say you cant use it but i would still run the rain water through a carbon block.

Rain water would be excellent for breeding as long as regular water changes are made. But for growing up juvies rain water will need to be buffered with calcium carbonate and other essential salts and minerals.
