why do discus lay on there side on the bottom of the tank
here is a clue not eaten in 3 days hides in driftwood
parameters are all fine
so moved him to hospital tank in readiness for meds
and there he is havin a lay down
colour is good and swam like crazy to avoid the net
whats my next move

There's lots of reasons fish will lay on their side.

In this case, it seems to be from the stress of being netted, especially if he was difficult to catch. A light salt treatment, of 1 level teaspoon per 40 litres of tank water (rock salt, or cooking salt, not table salt) seems to help with stress, and makes breathing easier.

Daily water changes, and plenty of live brine shrimp should go a long way to aiding recovery, before you try medication.
