Just thought I'd share a Photo of my grandaughter Tahlia Kayte and my new Puppy that my son bought for me. Her name is Sioux and she is a Shar Pei.

Margot she is beautiful... or should I say they are beautiful both your grandaughter and your puppy.... Just a tip: Make sure that you get sioux really well socialised as shar-peis can become quite timid and in turn agressive through fear. I say this as my brother had a lovely sharpei from a puppy but unfortunately she only ever spent time with him and his girlfriend... when she got older and they had visitors she would hide under chairs growling, fearful of anyone she didn't know and then she attacked my mothers toy poodle as she was very possessive of my brother and his wife. Anyway it was a sad ending so I don't want to go on.. but my brother was advised that it was common for sharpei to be like that if they weren't thouroughly socialised as pups with humans and other animals alike..... Good Luck!!! She is gorgeous.... don't you love their purple tongues??? :D

Hi Sammi,

Yes I have to agree, they are both beautiful (and I am NOT in the least bit biased!!).

I am aware of the possessive nature of Shar Peis - so I am making a point of socializing and introducing her to everyone that I can. I have two other dogs (a 12 year old Male Poodle and a 5 year old Female Jack Russel) and she gets on well with them - I also take her for walks in order to let her get to know people.

She is definately my dog though - I can't move without her on my heels - she sleeps in a basket next to my bed and if I get up to go to the loo through the night no matter how softly I tread, she is right behind me.

She eats like a horse and has doubled in size in the past two weeks - everyone calls her "Hippo", much to my disgust.

AWESOME!!! i love shar pei's!!!!! i was thinking of getting one not long ago! hehehe i love the wrinckles they have hehehehe! congrats!
