I've searched this site but cant find any stuff on green turks - now that may be because I am a computer quamby - and computers hate me back.

Does anyone know about or have pictures of a green turk?

G'day Squid,

There's a Melbourne importer who stocks what he calls "Green Mosaic Turqs" , here's a pic of that fish. HTH

I love all the trade names these days! They look exactly like some fish I have called 'laser greens'. But they are nice fish though. I had some green turks back in the eighties but the never got to full size/appearance becasue I moved to Tassie to study aquaculture and fish disease. If anyone has any photos keep sending. Thanks Discus D

Hi Endless,

The importer I mentioned is Mac out at OAFI on Warrigal Rd in Oakleigh. He has some nice fish, but you have to get in early on his shipments to get the good stuff

Squid,

I know what you mean about the naming of strains hahaha  That would of been very intresting studying Aquaculture and Fish Disease, it's something I would of loved to do :)

Mcloughlin2,

Yeah it's not a blatent "green" I saw these fish in the shop, and against say a blue turq it definatly has a greener "sheen" to it. I guess you could say it was a similar scenerio to the blue diamond and ocean green colour difference. HTH

Cheers,

Dee :)

Discus D - studying aquaculture was the best fun I've ever had. Hope you like drinking lots of Tassie beer and eating heaps of seafood. The local fish farms put on a fresh all you can eat seafood do each month - I especially loved the free abalone! I studied down in Tassie at the key centre for aquaculture research at UNI of Tas in Launceston - great place but bloody cold. Luckily for me, I was in the tropical fish department (a lot warmer) and did my thesis on Epizootic ulcerative syndrome in anabandids (dwarf, blue, lace and pearl gouramis) and salmonids. If you want to do it - its great fun. I studied all that for 6 years and ended up as a helicopter pilot in the Army. Talk about a career change - anyway, I'm gonna get out soon and go professional ornamental aquaculture, specialising in discus, and siamese fighters.

Heya Squid,

Mate, I love a nice cold Cascade pale ale, fresh seafood and cold weather  Sounds like I would be in my element down tassie way ! Might have to look into it abit further, thanks for the info ! A helicopter pilot ? mate that must be great ! Best of luck with your plans to go profesional with ornamental aquaculture.

Naq,

The green with this fish is in reference to the green 'sheen' of the metalic striations and not the base colour of the fish, unlike a tefe RSG whose base colour is green/yellow, this fish has a red base as you stated. I guess at the end of the day it's just another fancy name for a variant on a red turq :)

Cheers,

Dee :) [/code]

I think you would be able to get a fish which was a green base, with a red turk kinda pattern over the top.. But I havent seen these around in a little while...
