Swaping partner's

My discus were laying eggs every other week, in last couple of weeks the pair seem to have got a divorce, and the male has hooked up with another and they have started to lay again.
I have read that once a pair always a pair.

Not true Duck. If the pair are kept on their own, they usually continue in married harmony, but there are exceptions.

But both males and females will readily change partners. They don't mate for life.
