Hey all,

With a couple of new discus i've been given i have noticed a bit of slime coat degredation and petoral fin flicking (rapidly like somethings wrong), also a bit of gill scraping going on as well.

Anyone have suggestions as to why slime coat might degrade. tank specs ok, going to add a bit of salt. thought a general meth blue or other might help as well as general med,

All help appreciated

Could be a bit of damage to the slime coat from netting and moving the fish.

You're right to add a little salt to the water, but that's all I'd be doing at this stage.

Your fish should recover very quickly.

Hey all,

ok tried a salt bath and nothing, the slime coat is still degrading and i have noticed one of the fishies pec fins isn't being used, fins clamped so i know something is wrong

all of the others are ok, water parameters are within normal ranges, does anyone know another treatment or should i just poor in 1kg of salt or something into the tank (its a 6x2x2) and then a little while later seriously drain and change what water i can

appreciate ideas, cheers
