Do discus pair for life?

They may initially, however i have found that i can replace either sex in a partnership given time.

Certainly have seen from re-combining all fish into a community tank that a female (the only one at the time) will select a new/better mate if available.

Thanks for the info, I have 7 discus in a tank right now
The 2 pictures show the 2 fish that laid there first lot of eggs which disappeared after 3 days the (orange fish being the male) ... hope the next time they will be more successful

No they dont pair for life.


ive had pairs that get sick and tired of one another, back into the community tank and pair up with others.

or one dies off and the other finds a new mate
