Are you virtually uninhibited in your access to new Apisto species?

Some others I think would generate great interest are:

Apistogramma eremnopyge

Apistogramam Diplotaenia

Going by the rapid sale of the last lot I think the market is there

L168 at 6-8cm (adults) should be around about the $70-$80 mark once they are imported. 100pc coming available on first shipment.

Frontosa "Mpimbwe" 15cm - $350 (there abouts)
Frontosa "Kipili" 12-14cm - $350 (there abouts)

Prices are indicative only.... Subject to change.

Billy, I'm inhibited by price of the Apistogramma sp. Some of the figures of the fish are trully gastronomical!!! Prices are so variable between sellers it's not funny. Size is also a very big factor.... Some of the fish came in puny. I'm trying to get more "acceptable" sized fish.

Both your listed apistogramma are avaialble on my supplier's list, but at present too pricey I feel for the general public to accept.

If you are still seriously interested in those Apistogramma, PM me and we can discuss.

Above first 2 pictures is Apistogramma macmasteri (a very nice one indeed)
3rd pic is Apistogramma hongsloi "Red stroke".

Both are easy to get. Will have some of these available for you if you place an order for these 2 directly with SLS.

They may already have them in stock atm. I imported some of these a while back.

Last pic above this is Apistogramma elizabethae.... Prepare to pay an arm and a leg for these, but if you are serious, there are some A.elizabethae "super red" from Mr.Wilhelm available via Germany.

Ben
Wed Sep 14, 2005, 12:06 PM
Hi Kev,

Would you be getting in genuine wild Montezuma sword tails?
Or would they be bred from wild stock?

Whats a ball park price figure for them?

I am as keen as mustard to have some of those!

Cheers,
Ben

I got to Australian Air Express (took me about 10 minutes to find it) and I was already about 20 minutes late. Lo and behold! As I parked, they started a fire drill. Hehe, I always have a chuckle when these things happen to me. Someone's always joking around with me, but its cool.

Anyway, after waiting I received the box and everything was in order. Promptly, I drove home and opened the box, yup, yup, no white powdery stuff. Good too see. I checked around for any arowana or pleco lookablikes, none at all. hehe.

Anyway, the box was neatly packed so there were no loose bags smashing around and in two separate bags were 8 tiny new arrivals. "Apistogramma panduro" So it would seem, we will have to wait till they mature fully before a positive gender ID could take place.

In they went into an empty 2ft. Oops. No water. Okay filled the tank up with water from the 6ft and chucked in the priming sponge that was from there as well. I can be prepared, lol. A heater and presto! Instant tank, no cycling need.

I threw in a tiny clump of java moss. The next morning, the first food were some live daphnia and these guys were nervous at first, but their hunting instincts kicked in and they darted about for the daphnia, always staying close to the bottom though (as you would expect wild fish to be).

Only some black markings atm, but these guys are small. The tails are already showing some red half-circles. These guys are feeding well and I will move them or add more comforts such as gravel and plants to their tank. At the moment, it is a bare bottom and acting as a quaratine tank.

Cheers,
Vien.
ps-I hope Michelle puts me down for the inka-50s, maybe I'll call her to add me to order list again.

Also, I need to ask but will not be able to afford due to lack or room and money (a constant problem I'm sure for most of us)

- Prices on the O. nasuta "gold" Kipilli?
- and prices on the Benthochromis tricoti?

Second cheers,
Vien.
ps2 -getting a bit drunk now, too many cheers.

Maybe down the track we could swap some panduro's for my agassizi's?

Keep us posted mate!

Thanks kev,

All these pics of the new arrivals make me feel like an alcoholic being put to work in a bottle shop.

It's wonderful to see AQIS allowing these new imports into the country.

And the team at SLS are on the ball. I have to use every bit of self constraint and lack of space too stop me from setting up more tanks !!

HMM could move/sell the TV !!!

Just a thought wouldn't it be great if someone could post some sound files of how to pronounce the fish names in Latin. Along with the posts. OMG I think I should get some sleep I'm losing it. Although it would be great to able to pronounce the names of my fish properly.

Reillin, your story made me chuckle. You'll have to post pics of those babies after they settle in. They sound gorgeous.

And Oscar Man Alpha, I agree. I would love to know how to pronounce the names of some of those fish too. :D
