5 discus ? how about a 4 ft tank ? soon or later they will grow bigger.

Dicus need a little hiding spots, put a bit of driftwood or pots in the tank as well as plants

4ftLby14Wby18 high is what the lfs have got on hand but i think i might go wider as i want more surface area for gas exchange i dont like stocking even close to the limit either.
How deep of sand bed do you need to plant swords an anubias in and can you get that micro sword ground cover in victoria but i think for my first discus tank ill just go sand with a few broad leaf plants or probaly no plants at all is their any way to make a really bare tank look good

a nice 4 x 18 x 18 is a good start.

a few breeding cones as hidey spots.

current - dead current is better in my opinion.

keep this in mind...

adults need 40 liters each fish
juveniles need 20 liters per fish (remember they grow bigger)

no hiding places needed...the less the better anyway

slow waterflow is their natural habitat

good luck...Jim
