Seriously Mez, it is a real public aquarium.

After what Dr V added, plus doing some more digging, it looks like one of the new public aquaria in Japan (still searching for the name and link to show that it is real)

Yes , I saw this aquarium in Japan.

It was quite amazing, sorry guys I dont know the names either, couldnt read the writing there :P

Like Dreamer said, perhaps Ring of Fire in Osaka? I heard they have a whale shark in their main exhibit so maybe...

I travel to Japan from time to time. The biggest aquarium tank in Japan is located in Yokohama and it was litter over 10m tall. The one in the pic is way over that. I would say its fake.

I also went to one in Japan near Yokahama/Tokyo and it was semi circular with all sorts of large fish and masses of Tuna. I was with a Japanese friend and she said people were making jokes about being hungry. I think it's real and on a time lapse camera short loop if that makes any sense. The place I went too was in a bay.

Sorry to drag up old post, but i was watching cable on the weekend, and good old rex-hunt was in Japan...at the Ring of Fire Aquarium.

How big is it?...They have a full size WHALE SHARK in there swimming around lazily!!! To feed it, it swims to the surface and they tip buckets of krill into it's mouth.

You gotta look at level 2F for the larger bits ;)
