I had separated a pair........... with lots of spawning but not very successful as I supect my water is not soft enough

I decided after much frustration to return them to the community tank,

A week before I had added 2 new fish........ bewties too :D

The new large one is unsettled with the pair back in the tank, so there lots of pecking and nose on nose.......... they have been there 24 hours and seem a bit better......

will they settle or will they remain at loggerheads and aggressive

dont like to see them getting aggro........ I like harmony

pls let me know how long they need to settle in??

Cheers

one fish will assert dominance in the tank

it will depend on the fish how long it takes, all fish are different

it may take a week or so

don't stress, they should settle down

HelloPoppy,
Ryan is right.
But there is another factor that spark aggression is pH....
The lower the pH, the more aggressive they become....thus adjust the pH 1 degree higher may slow down the agression....of that will depends on whether it is acceptable by you and your present water perimeter permits.
In other word, if the pH now is 6.0, ...moving up to 7plus will slow down their activity.

Just my thought!
