I currently have 6 discus in my 4ft tank. (?55G)

I really want to expand my collection but really don't have to resources to get a bigger tank in the short term.

I understand the recommended maximum number of fish to be kept in this size tank is 6, but what if I keep 2 more?

How will the fish be affected?

Will they be stunted? Even if i keep up regular daily w/c?

thanks for opinions.

dont forget that 10gal/discus is for adult fish. You could probably put a few more smaller ones in. The more fish you add the more wtaer changes you will have to do.

it will jsut affect your satbility of your water and the amount of time you need to do changes!

you should have no problems with regular changes

more fish = more feeding = more fish waste = more w/c

putting it simply

:D

i do daily w/c 25%.

what i am really concerned is whether or not putting more fish in (regardless of w/c) will stunt growth...

i've heard of such phenomenon with goldfish in crowded environments....

any opinions?

25% daily w/c should be alright for those 6 discus

But when they grow bigger you might want to consider putting less fish in that tank

This is to create more room to grow

Doing daily water change will boost the growth for sure plus nutricious food
