My Riccia floated away so i had to do a big mess job, So i thought i would take some pics to show how i go about it.
It's pretty straight forward. It's a lot easier to trim while it's still attached to the rock or wood then you can tie it back without the headache from the wife
If it's too much please delete it.

Terrific photos Duck.

That riccia is so versatile. I have a wall of it growing. Looks awsome. Love what you did with the driftwood.

I thought i would post this so people get an idea on how to go about it and to show how i do it.
ladyred:
I've been thinking about the same thing have a wall of riccia it would look good but don't know where to put it
axl:
I use cotton.

Jim:
You need to trim it,I use scissor's.
It's best to trim it while still attached and out of the water so you don't have a mess in tank,Then you need to retie it again if you don't it will float away.

So duck...riccia does not actually attach itself to the wood and rock?

Riccia is a floating plant,It will never attach itself to anything :)
You have to tie it down to rock, wood ect.

I saw a photo somewhere with masses of bubbles coming out of a "lawn" of submerged Riccia plants...just wondering if this really happens and if so, does it happen all the time or is it very rare???

It really happen's and not rarely either it can happen everynight if you plant a saturating the water column with O2.
Couple of pic's from my tank.

I believe that when the optimum conditions are present for plant growth, ie, plenty of CO2, plenty of light and plenty of nutrients, the plants can photosynthesize to the max, producing even more O2 than can be dissolved into the water, so the excess O2 forms bubbles!!
