A couple more. The true colors are not as reddish as it appears in the photos, for some reason the colors changed from my computer to this web site. They look a bit more yellow in person.

Hi Rod,

Wowzer, those albino's are stunning mate  love em ! Now I want to get some  I love those red turqs too, beautifull fish. Are the red turks from your breeders ? I hope I can get the ones I got from you to that size and shape ... great fish Rod.

Cheers,

Dee :)

Thanks for the nice comments heckelboy, David, Leanne, Ronny, Dee, Merrilyn and Matt. I'm quite proud of those discus and nice to see others enjoying them as well.

David, yes that is the pair you seen when you were over. From memory they were quite a bit darker that time as they were feeding babies. Amazing the color difference when they don't have a spawn on. The babies are doing fine, eating and growing well :)

Leanne, the color is filling out nicely on that blue turk. Good work fixing him up after his problems.

Scott, Yes my web page is down.

Dee, Yes those red turks are from among my breeders. Keep your babies well fed and i'm sure they will develop into beautiful fish as well.

Dr V, yes i am a breeder. The Albinos i imported but the rest are my own bred fish.

Thanks again

rod,
very nice albino...I guess they are albino gold? some appears like turq albino.....

sunshinediscus
Fri Apr 29, 2005, 07:57 PM
Thanks Sleeper, they are actually albino alenquers. The alenquer is a type of haraldi blue discus where the males tend to look like a royal blue and female tend to have minimal body markings so it is reasonable to assume some will develop a turquoise body pattern.

Hi Rod,

Just thought I'd ask how big is the tank the albino's are in ? and how many fish are in there ? I only ask because I'm growing out 13 juvi's in a 4x2x2 and was wondering if that will be too many in the 4x2x2 when they get to adult size ? I do 25% WC's daily, with a ample filtration and UV setup.

Cheers,

Dee :)

Hi Dee,

They are in a 1050 x 600 x 400 tank at the moment (about 220 liters). There are 17 discus in there so i do 75% water change a day to control water quality. Soon they will be split into 2 of those tanks.

13 in your tank will be ok when they are adults but keep those water changes up.

Thanks Nigel and Sanie.

Sanie, are you going to aquarama later this month? Apparently there is a whole section of the judging for albino discus this time. I can't wait, there should be some awesome looking fish. I'm surprised you don't see them in your country often, thats where i bought mine from.

Rod,
I can only dream some albinos swimming in my tanks.......... That's because I can't get any of them any sooner. Roy's production has stopped temporarily. Oh! too bad these things happen...........But, I can guarantee you I'll be the first one to grab once he's up................

Regards,
Sanie.

Brew3, I'd love to see a better photo of the first 2 discus, they look stretched in height in those pics, even the eyes look stretched. If you take the photo with less inclination to the glass you will get a more natural result.

Picture of the fish, previous picture was taken at a slight angle it made some difference but not much.
Picture of the same fish taken today and they were imported from Wayne Ng Discus Centre.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Sanie, Aw .... i'm sorry for making you wet your keyboard :(.

Rod, yeah i'm planning to do a cross along that line with the LSS. It's just that i need to find the right type of LSS to cross with.

Mario, There will be some for you to see when you are here. But they will be under lock and key lol. Oh yes i got myself an apartment and cause a big big hole in my pocket lol. So far that's the most expensive purchase in my entire life.
