Hi guys,

Have kept both tropical and marine and once discus (but didn't end well) - inexperience and stress levels caused hole in the head.
Am thinking of taking the plunge into fish keeping again and would like to keep discus.

The tank I'm thinking of getting is a boyu xf80 (so new out I can't find info ANYWHERE about it...)
It is approx 3ft wide by 4ft tall and is lifted by T5s.

Will most of the tank end up being dead space? Will the discus just end up staying middle/bottom?
I've read that the LEDs will wash out the fish and I'm thinking with a tank this height, I will probably struggle with plant growth?

I'm in a hard water area here, so am thinking its best/necessary to have an RO filter.

I haven't purchased anything yet, so am I better off going to a longer tank with less height?

I wasn't looking a densely planted tank with the Amazonian tea water, but more sand bottom, few large JavaS and swords and neons & corys with the discus taking centre stage.
