Hi evenryone,

My discus tank has now been running since october last year and you can see the set up on the fourm. But I decided to add White play sand from bunnings, add some more plants and different discus too plus tetras, plecos, butterflies etc.

So here are some pics .

I hope you like them

Simply stunning, this is a favourite tank of mine.

Is this the 'white play sand from Bunnings'?

Hi Livingfish78,
all looking great as always mate! Maybe you can share a bit of the tanks care regime as the plants look very healthy. Co2 or not? Ferts added etc?
Cheers

Hi guys

Thanks for all your comments but I must say I'm no expert with plants and learning everyday. I trim back anything that is dying once a week to give off new growth.

I have dropped the tank temp to 29,
I use a ph controller which reduces the ph with also the injection of co2 with a tunze diffuser. I keep my ph at 6.0.

I use flourish once a week and and leave zone.

I still have some plants that grow really well and some I can't do anything right.

But I do have automatic top up , which is adding ro water every day ,which i add discus trace and geo liquid to the water, so additional minerals which help the plants .

If anyone has any great advice to keep my plants growing , please let me know

Hope you don't mind if I ask, but what do you put in when you do a water change? (For the fish)

When I do a water change I use Geo Liquid from flex , a little bit of discus buffer to soften water...Thats it.... I also every 4 weeks treat the whole tank with Kusuri wormer( which I sell).

what sort of lights are you using? not sure if its the pic but there is quite a distinct blue, this will not be helping the plants.

your best bet is going to be particular plant selection as a lot dont do well in temps above 26, also placing plants in certain areas that gain the most light. anubias dont require high amounts of light so they would do well in some of the darker areas. hygrophiler which youve got looks like its doing well. I have had great success with a discus planted tank but my equipment was very specific for planted tanks, really is a balancing act, i wouldnt have been able to do it on this scale, mine was only 3ft with 4 discus haha. ill post some pics if you like?

would be happy to answer any plant questions you have?

beautiful tank!
