can i use British oak as bogwood

Hi, all discus lovers, i'm new to discus breeding. I have about fifty oak off cuts . I've been soaking them in a barrel so when i measure the water PH in a barrel it shows me 4,7 PH but i dont know if i can use it for my fish tank to lower PH. Thanks

From memory Oak is discus safe. some one here a few years back was using dried oak leaves for blackwater
