Del there are several thoughts on ideal temperature.

Jack Wattley, who is probably the most well known discus breeder in the world, used to keep his tanks at 30 degrees but now finds he gets better results with a temperature of 28 degrees. He feels, as I do, that it is better to keep the higher temperatures for times of illness, when a higher temperature will assist the healing process.

I'll go with Jack and yourself... 28 it is then - thank you.

On the other hand the higher temperatures keep away any nasties. From my personal experience the lower the temperatures the more prone they are to getting sick.

IMO Consistently higher temperatures (32c) = increased metabolism = organs working harder = shorter life span.
