i am running 2 2217's, one with standard media, one with pond matrix and purigen. 30-40% changes once to twice a week.

my question is with this set up how many discus could i keep? i current have 4, between 6-10 cm and i dont feel its enough.

what do you guys recommend?

The recommended water volume is 40-50L per fish. So just work out the tanks volume (minus an allowance for substrate, timber etc) and divide as appropriate.
Nice looking setup by the way

Agreed. I always tend not to stock to the upper limit so that there's some 'margin for error'.

Also remember that if you include any other livestock like Neons, Cories etc that they have to be given some allowance for volume so this will reduce your total Discus numbers..

Also the size of the discus to consider.
