Hi guys,
I read somewhere that fish fed hormones to improve colour and growth endup with liver damage and die after awhile. Just wondering if there are telltale signs of this practice in juvenile discus, angels, ect, offered for sale and whether anybody checks and if it's illegal, thanks.

generally the colour enhancers sold overseas are illegal to but here.

the best way to tell is if a fish look a little "too red" or "too gold" or "too blue" to be true you can assume its had some colour enhancement.

If you can buy off a local breeder you might be better off, the fish will be used to your water, not enhanced with anything too dangerous (spirolina, anthaxin are both ok). they wont look as nice, but healthier local fish are always better then pretty fish.
