I have the 2080 - awesome filter. Personally I only bought the factory pads, which I'll use as templates to cut replacements from cheaper material. As for the biological media, I used Seachem Matrix from the company below, along with expanded clay balls and cintered glass noodles. All up, a huge saving over buying an Eheim media pack.
Up Aqua now also produces a noodle that has massive amounts of surface area far cheaper than Eheim.

Sorry mate, I got my filter from Ebay 2nd hand. Guppys definately sells the media at a good price along with other models, so you may need to buy the filter elsewhere..

I'd definately look at other alternatives to the Eheim media because it costs a packet for no discernable benefit.

Not content with introducing me to this whole discus addiction hey Swampy.

Now you're trying to have me develop an eheim dependency also!

Cheers.,

Good tip mate, I'll give it a try today. I'm hoping mine will be ok since it was used. Mine's been running for several days now out in the garage into a bucket without issue but I'll wind down the output to see what happens.
It will running at full flow when it goes on the on the tank, but it's always good to be prepared ;)
Hopefully the aftersales service of your retailer sorts you out quickly..
