Hi,

My local pet store has live blackworms but they are kept in very dirty water so I didn't dare buy any. Is this normal practice? Should the water be clear?

do not feed blackworms from cloudy or dirty water!
only buy them if the water is crystal clear and cold

the water was dirty because they simply didnt change it... these worms foul the water extraordinarly quickly, within hours.... i myself have bough worms in foul water, just as long as the worms are not dead (which you can tell when the worms, or some of them, are white in colour)
