Hi all
Just wondering how long till new silicon will be safe for my discus, ive added a new baffle to my sump it has no real load on it and after 12hrs seems dry.
I have all my filter media in a drum with air and a power head going but want to put it back it the sump asap for obvious reasons but don't want to risk my fish in anyway.
So how long should I leave it???

What type of silicon did you use?

I used selleys glass silicone for windows and aquariums, the tube says 72hr to cure and for aquariums 7days.
As it's only a small baffle with no real load on it and I am shore if that still applies.

I would wait the 7 days just to be sure it is completely cured. They make the stuff so I assume they know what they are talking about. ;)

I thought that the 7days mite be for strength, but I suppose it's best to just leave it better safe than sorry.
Thanks for the help guys.

The glasiers I used to work with used 24hrs per mm thickness as I general guide - more if high strength was required.

Since silicone cures due to contact with air it cures from the outside inward, meaning there 'could' be some uncured chemical content still in the middle. I'd just go with what's recommended.
