Hi,
im currently cycling my 450ltr tank and its been 4 days and yesterday my ammonia dropped from 5ppm to 0. The current reading in the tank are:
Ammonia: 5ppm (dosed back up this morning)
Nitrite: 0.7
Nitrate: 7
Ph: 7.9
My wife and myself are sick of the prawn smell in the house and i have been leaving the prawns in a separate container and adding the water to the tank. Im getting my discus later this month or maybe early jan and i want to know how can i keep feeding the bacteria with ammonia without using the prawns????? The smell is awful and i was talking to a bloke on the phone before and he suggested just add some flakes once a week and that will feed the bacteria until i get my discus. Is this ok
