Hi Folks

I bought and setup a new tank last christmas and it was taller than the old one so my fluval hoses dont reach properly - at the moment Im just using the top of tank trickle filter thing (its a Jebo tank)but am not very happy with it. To get the the fluval working I need to buy longer hoses but can only find them at 25$ per length and I would need to buy 2 :(

Any suggestions on an equivalent replacement hose and where to get them - tried bunnings but the one near us only sells hosing by the roll now.

Thanks

steph

+1 for Bunnings. They have various sizes and you can buy by the metre pretty cheaply.

the stuff from bunnings isn't food grade, it also has a nasty odor, if anyone wants 12 or 20mm bunnings hose i have 2 10m rolls of it you can have.

the stuff from clark is food grade but costs almost 3x as much, better off to use correct size chinease filter tube like aquaone, 16mm that would suit a fluval will cost you $5-9/m from your LFS

Hi Steph,

I put this up on AL as well, not sure which one you'd see first. Good link for the rest of us though.

thanks for the info everyone. Yes i found out today how expensive clark rubber is - the reinforced PVC pipe was 18.95/m, the plain clear pipe looks like it will pinch/compress as the pipe need to do a 180 degree bend at the top of the tank. saw the link swampy, i might ask them about the pinching but I suspect it ll do the same thing.

looks like the original fitting or a trip to the lfs.

your best bet for a 180 degree bend is to DIY one from 15mm pvc, 2 15mm 90 degree elbows will cost you $3.50 it will never pinch or fray, dont try and do anything more then a 45 degree bend with hose your asking for trouble.

not wrong, it cost me $20 recently for renewed sponge material for my probe case. However, its always nice to know they are availible by short car trip for most things if you want it enough! The one near us is next door to bunnings, so it works out well..... or bad, depends who's counting the money..lol
