Life Span

[Three little fish]

I was wondering if anyone out there knows what the average life span of the Discus fish are? (approximately). How long do we expect our fish to live before they fall off the perch, so to speak, from natural causes?

I had one that was over 8, some I have heard have gone to 12- 15

The reason I asked, apart from being curious, is that my big male Red Turk has just gone off colour and off his food. All other fish are ok and my water is good. He is about 6 years old and I was wondering if I have a problem or whether he was just reaching the end of his tether ?
