Cycling a canister filter

I have justed purchase a canister filter.

I currently run an internal filter and a hang on filter on my 4ft setup.

How do I introduce the canister filter?

I would assume I should leave my other filters running until the new canister is cycled? Maybe even use some of the media out of my current filters?

The short answer, yes to both!

Add some existing media and dont remove your other filters for at least a couple of weeks.
