Black stripe through the eye

Why do some fish have the black stripe which runs vertically through the eye? One of my Turq's has it and the other doesnt......... What determines this characteristic?

It is just a characteristic of the vertical bars that turqs have. Some show it more than others. Not much you can do about it. I have seen them lessen with growth and age, and also environmental conditions can reduce the look ie: stress factor.

That makes sense as its the dominant fish that has lost its bar and it rarely if ever shows stress bars. It had the bar when first purchased.
