hi i tested my water yesterday after a 50% water change and these are results

temp 27 oC
pH 6.7
kH 0-3 oH
gH 14 oH
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 25

ive got 4 juvenile discus on order for in the new year will the above values be ok, the dealers water conditions are as follows

PH: 6.9
Temperature: 30*c
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5

also how do you recommend i get the nitrate level down? i was thinking some duck weed or another light unit to try to increase the plant growth
as i have CO2 injection and loads of plants.

I wouldnt panic, just turn your temp up between 28 and 30 degrees.

Do a few extra water changes to get the nitrate down. Have you tested your tap water for nitrates?

Dont use duck weed. That stuff is like herpes. Once you have it you will have it for life. ;) It will also block the light.

Try some fast growing stem plants instead.

cheers people

temp is now upto 28 and another water change planned for boxing day.

ive ordered some reflectors to increase the light intensity and increase plant growth, also a new external filter arrived this morning which will be plumbed in to a hose to make WCs easier.
