Quarantine tank setup what to put in it

Hi,
I have a 2 foot tank that i use for a quarantine tank and wont to know what other people put in theres. Do i Just need a heater and airstone or would a sponge filter be better. Last time when i had a sponge filter going i ran into some ammonia problems.

HEATER SPONGE FILTER, mature your sponge filter in an established tank for a month or so before puting it into your QT tank, you can run a QT tank on just a heater and airstone but you'll need to do massive daily water changes daily or even 2x daily depending on your stocking levels.
