I unfortunately have a mature fish that may need to be euthanaised. I was wondering what the best technique you've all found for this sad task?

Hold it down on a cutting board with a paper towel and quickly cut its head off with a sharp knife.

Yes it sounds brutal but it is the quickest end for the fish.

put it in a bucket with enough water to cover the fish so it swims upright, start adding clove oil a drop at a time the fish will slow and lye down on it side, keep adding clove oil drop by drop till it stops breathing then add a few more once its been still for 10 min you can dispose of it.

Clove oil as prescribed by Jothy is the only 'humane' way to put a fish to sleep imo. You can get clove oil at a chemist, it is used for toothache.

WTF!? Please tell me you're joking. I couldn't do that to one of my pets.

I think clove oil is the way to go fo me. Thanks guys.
