View Full Version : gambusia / mosquito fish for live food?

Hi all
as some of you know, gambusia is a massive pest in lots of our freshwater creeks and was wondering if a couple a female gambusia were in a tank with discus would the fry be a nutritional snack for the discus? can anyone see amy potential problems with this? any thoughts?

$10000 fine for keeping them in an aquarium.

also finding clean disease free stock could be a problem.

oh crumbs! didnt realise that doh - theres a few creeks in the area that have them there, but with that sort of fine i'll leave em there!

If you live in Sydney you can in fact keep them..
I see your from Gosford so no you can't keep them as its illegal.
Should be illegal in all of Australia i.m.o.

can't you come up with a cheap alternative for Kangus? :ug

Maybe there should be some form of poster supplied to LFS by I&I etc?

as for alternatives guppy's are your best bet
