Hi guys,

I've been doing a lot of reading about this, but have no 'solid' answers.

I had a few problems with my bio filter, so I switched it off, used an internal filter for a while, and am now about to require my canister filter again.

I know that all the bacteria in there will have died off and that simply switching it on again will introduce a lot of toxins into the tank... So I'm aware that I need to clean it....but the question is...how?

I don't want to use the tank water, as this water has been heavily medicated. I was trying to save my 3 discus...but ended up losing two to what was later discovered to be internal parasites caught too late.

So the question is...what is the best procedure to do this?

I've bought new:

Polyfibre
Fluval prefilter noodles
Fluval biomax

I look forward to all advice...

Kind Regards,

Zako
