ok, as most of you will know i am a fluval fan. i have a fluval 305 in my cichlid tank and love it.

but.....

after reading sooo many posts here about how good eheim is, i have been researching them and am starting to like them, in particluar the classic range as they have an impressive media capacity.

when i rescued the discus i have now, the filter they came with died, (a AquaNova npc1500). i have been running a 700L/Hr internal filter that i had laying around as having a large family and being in and out of work $ is a bit scarce.

but very soo i plan to purchase a new filter for them, but cnat make up my mind about which eheim would suit the tank.

the tank is 3ft x 15 x 18. 153L total, but a working capacity of about 143L (bare bottomed).

i have been looking at the eheim site
http://www.eheimasiapacific.com/prod_e_extfilter_classic.html

and dont kno if the 2213, 2215 or the 2217 is more suitable as we all know the max output of filters doesnt equal the true flow rate after media resistance and filter head height is taken into account.

go the 2217 and leave yourself some upgrade room, for the extra cash your getting 2x the filter of the 2215

I really hate restrictions on information sharing. Whatever happened to ASA anyway ?

ASA was taken over by PSA. Phill is still working on securing aquatopia (the group with the eheim licence in Oz) as a supplier.

you've got some very good suppliers in VIC and some very competitive pricing you shouldn't have too much trouble getting a 2211.

Have you considered a second hand filter? I picked up a 2215 complete in the box with almost all of its warranty for $95. I even got the receipt.
