Hey Guys

I've got a AquaOne Eurostyle 85 (200Ltr) tank that came with a standard AquaOne cantister, which just doesn't seem to do the job, well with Discus anyway.

Can anyone recommend a Canister Filter that will more than do the job. I was even considering getting 2, 1 for each side.

Cheers

Rob

Hey Rob

Have a look online i was going to upgrade to a aqua one with a biult in uv steriliser that pumped about 2200ltr/hr and it was only like $250 with 9watt.

my fluval pumps directly down to avoid any cross currents and seems to be ok. i also run a otto power head with a spray bar.

Cheers Justin

Yep me too Eheim 2217 / actually I have 2 of these on my display tank and a 2215 on a 4ft and a 2213 on a 3ft. So easy to use, clean and get parts for.

Thanks guys, whats a good price for the eheim 2217.

I contacted a couple of stores, seems they vary from 250 - 370.

Whats an average price? And does anyone have a prefered stockist in Melb?

i know "thereefshop dot com dot au" has good cheap filters.

i bought a fluval 305 for my african cichlid tank for 230 + p&h a few months back. the local fish shops had the same filter for over $350

they also sell eheim filters to.

unfortunately the site is down for maintence until the 21st.

reefshop has a had a bit of a bad rap from some members here, try and source one from an official dealer, expect to pay about $300 the best thing about these filters is they run forever so if you can get a second hand one off ebay for 150 is you wont regret it.

xrboy_85,

I wouldn't bother purchasing a cannister with 2200lph flow with only a 9watt UV light. It won't do anywhere nearly enough to justify the extra electricity and cost.

Thanks guys, I picked up an eheim 2217. I'm running that and an Aqua One Canster filter as well. Its amazing how crystal clear the water is.

If anyones insterested I got it for $250 brand new from the lfs.

Good stuff, was it the one with the media already inside? Mine had a carbon mat in there too, so I removed that before use, only need to use that to remove old meds, just in case you left it in.

Yeah it had all the media in it as well.

Which one was the carbon mat, It had Blue, White and Black mats in it, I assumed that they were just different thickness's of filter mat.
