Hi,

I wanted to know when do you know if discus are pairing. All of my discus are of pairing age and all have their own territories. There is a definate female and a definate male who share a section. The female defends the territory, but the male stays in one spot in the territory staring at the wood in theie area. He doesn't defend anything or do anything except eat. But the female is very active and moves alot (she is a tad bit smaller than him). He is a wild tefe green discus who got seperated from his mate at the pet store. So I took him home since he was completely stressed and not eating. In less than two days he was better. One other thing is that all of the suspected females have been acting strange ever since I put him in thier tank. They have bickered way more than they had done before. Their colors have also been brighter and more beautiful.

If anyone could help and explain whether or not these are pairing behaviors, that would be great.

Thank You

sounds like pairing, you do get aggro femails samir had a very mean girl from memory, if shers holding ground and he's happy with her there's no reason they wouldn't be a pair.

Thank you so much I'm pretty positive they are too.

If possible could someone answer my other question?

What are the signs of two duscus pairing? How do they act and what do they look like?

Some possible signs of pairing that I have observed.
Being together in the tank and both defending the same area.
Eating together but chasing off other fish.
Colour intensifies.
Bowing as they approach each other.
Shaking (shuddering)
