Hi all,
After your help with controlling ammonia. I've got two 4ft tanks on a common sump with 3000lt/hr pump. About 450lt total volume.
PH remains stable, nitrite 0, but ammonia keeps raising to 2ppm within a couple of days of a water change.
There's four 8cm fish in one tank, and five 5cm fish in the other along with 6 neons and 2 small peppermint cats; so I don't think the bio load is too high.
The system is over 6mth old and I've never been able to get the ammonia to stablise for more than a couple of days at a time! They only get fed before and after work, one tank is bare bottom and the other is planted. I even installed an undergravel filter in the planted tank and a foam filter in the bare bottom tank to help suppliment the sump, but things haven't improved.
I lose the occassional neon but the Discus seem ok. Probably not growing as quickly as they could but healthy otherwise.
