Hey guys

I have self diagnosed myself with discus disease i have been thinking of ways to house more of the little suckers!!!!

got a 250ltr 4ftx18x18 and am thinkiing of going to a 4ft x18x28

this then houses the querie to look at hmm sump options

any advice would be appreciated on how to best rig up bulk heads and the like,

i am currently running an otto 300 internal power head and a fluval 404 canister filter.

do i need the sump??

and or should i be putting sponge media and the like in it and do away with the fluval to run the 2nd tank

Thanks Justin

why not have both the sump and the fluval 404 canister filter.
no such thing as to much filtration

Go the sump route and never look back. Take a look at my thread here:

It might give you some ideas

I am still (patiently) waiting for my son to finish the plumbing on my sump, but I have copied Steve's sump (that he linked above).

mistakes r crucial

Hi,

IMO if you like DIY projects go the sump route for the fun of doing it but if that's not the case I can't really see too many benefits in sumping one tank. Room, money, it all comes in to play and a good quality 2000ltr an hour canister with plenty of media would be more than adequate.
Cheers
MAC

PS Hi Hollowman, long time no speak.

Good to see you Mac,

You are right of course my friend, a good cannister will do the job just as well for the one tank. :)

thanks guys

I have decided after buying a new leopard turk from matt15 that i need a 6ftx24x28

so will probably just put another canister on it and have to 2 running with my oto 300

save my money for more swimming friends!!!!!
