hi, i have 6 juvi discus and just wanted to know should i be getting rid of my clown loach who is around 10cm long and my 5 Congo tetras?
some people say to get rid of them, while others say leave them., its just at feeding time the loach and Congo just go for the food, while the discus just puddle around for the food, apart from the few discus that are aggressive.
your thoughts appreciated

Clown loaches are generally not suitable as tankmates for discus. Basically because of the following reasons:

- They inhibit fast flowing streams whereas discus are found in slow flowing areas of the river.

- Clown loaches remain active after dark and can spook the discus.

- They are definitely more boisterous eaters while discus need to be the dominant fish in the tank for them to get their fill.

Congo tetras should be avoided as tankmates too for the above reasons except they are active during the day not night. They also generally do better at a higher pH, gh and kh as they inhibit streams in alkaline african streams.
