Just wondering what is the desired KH and GH for optimal egg development when breeding.
I know the information is probably on here somewhere but I can't seem to find it with the search option.
Hope someone can help

The reason I ask is that I have had two pairs spawn but 90% of the eggs from both spawns went off and fungused.
My current water parameters are kh = 20ppm, gh = 160ppm and pH around 7

basicly as low as possible for breeding, if your eggs went fungusy its because they were infertile I had good results with around 80 gh and kh so your numbers should be fine.

Thanks. I was just concerned that the gh was a little on the high side.

I had poor fertilisation rates at GH 120 KH 100. I believe it is the Ca and Mg in the GH part that affects the process.

Added 50-75% RO or rainwater and fertilisation went to almost 100%. This can depend on the heath of the parents too.

If I was you I would try lowering your GH with RO etc and then increase your KH up to around 50-60ppm with baking soda to keep the pH a bit more stable.
