just thought I'd share some photos the other night a few fry got kicked out of my 168's cave (5) and my 104's cave (2)

popped them into an egg tumbler and they seem to be doing quite well.

was worried about the 104's they had a funny looking yolk sack, now that the yolks exausted they look fine

168's are soo tiny even smaller then orange spot fry

Hi Jothy

Yes, will you be selling fry? Do these get much bigger than peppermints?

LOL yes i'll be selling fry but these guys are alittle diffrent to bristlenoses, 168's are omnivours that get to about 18cm in length, they can get a little agro to each other and other fish, 104's dont get bigger then 10cm, eat wood and not much else, and poo like you wouldn't believe.

both species are almost strictly nocturnal I'm installing moonlights so i get to see them, as soon as i have decent numbers of fry they be sold here to DF members only :)

but dont hold your breath, neither species is "easy" to spawn, still you never know.

Unfortunatly no they seem to peiter out at about 3 week mark, I guess the pepfry are just outcompeating them for food. 104's are doing well and should be ready for sale by mid november.

They look cute. Since they can co-exist with peppermints, I'm interested in the 104's. Let us know when you have set a price

Hi Robyn, mine live well with peps and orange spots as you can see from the pics, just make sure you have caves (drilling a 25mm holes in a thick pice of drift wood works the best) price will be cheap probably $25 but i wont sell them any smaller then 3.5cm, by that size they'll be tough enough for new water, and only a cm or 2 off breeding size.

will keep you all posted.

Too bad, Jothy

Oh, well. I'm still interested in those 104's. So they go well in planted tanks?

Please put my name down for a small group, when you next have enough at a saleable size.

ILLUSN

going well, 2 males fanning not sure if they have fry yet or not, all males in that tank are fanning 104's, 66's and peppermints, still have 2 104 fry ~3cm now but I'm going to keep them to help bolster the colony

Sorry to hear mate. How are the new fry doing? Any updates?

And btw, just curious, how do you know you had a pH crash? And how did it happen?

ILLUSN
Fri Feb 05, 2010, 02:01 PM
fry doing ok but growing super slow.

ph crass was pretty obvious dipped in the ph meter and it was reading 3.1 checked it just to be syre and after calibration was reading 3.0.

just didnt get all the muck behind the wood and hadn't cleand the filters in a long time. live and learn.

how are these guys going?

ILLUSN
Wed Aug 18, 2010, 11:03 AM
going great latest 168's are just hitting 3cm and theres a few 2.5-3cm 104's shooting around the tank, spawning seems easy enough raising the fry is a pain in the behind.

Thanks Chris and Merrilyn!

I've had the 104's go before to be honest hard to spawn were these guys

so back to back spawns makes me a VERY happy camper indeed!

once they kick start generally its not hard to get them going as long as stability is maintained . I just noticed my L128 fanning , OZ first perhaps ? :)
