Everytime I'm typing a message, whether it is on Bookface, DF.com, one of my regular porno subscriptions, and I type the letter "y" in a word, my cursor will jump up a line, or backwards about 10 words or generally move to some other section of the page.

Anyone know how to fix this or why it is happening?? Very frustrating :?

There are endless possibilities of what 'COULD' be causing this problem.
E.g.

Does this happen when you use anything from the mircosoft office package i.e. Word, Excel etc etc???

It could be a hardware conflict or a trojan or even a problem with your internet browser.

I would try the following solutions:
- New keyboard
- Updating drivers
- Scan your system for viruses/trojan.
AVG - http://free.avg.com/
Anti Vir - http://www.free-av.com/
- Installing FireFox which is a FREE internet browser. If the problem lies with InternetExplorer this will do the trick.

OR worst case... backup everything u wanna keep and do a complete format and install a fresh OS.
I have had the same problem before but it was simply a stuffed keyboard so a new one did the trick.

It sounds like a common problem - does it have one of those little rubber mouse things on the keyboard? If so it's probably jammed and moves when you hiy Y? I'm not sure how but you can usually turn off the built in mouse if you have an external one

When you purchase a Vista laptop the first thing it asks you is to BACKUP your system. If you did this then you can always revert back to that saved BACKUP.

Otherwise can you remember when this problem started occurring and think of what things u might have changed or done for this to occur?

Here's a windows link which might help:

I like Daves idea in that the problem lies with your physical keypad somewhere but it maynot be that.

Google your specific model and see if anybody else is having the same problem. There's hundreds via a generic laptop search.

Two things I would try - turn off the built in pointer device (either the nipple or touchpad) and see if that helps - should be Fn Key + F9 ?

Go to the support site and download & install the latest pointing devide driver for your model here http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?project=vista

Try an external USB keyboard.

Might be as simple as bumping the mouse pointer.
Have you turned the tapping off?

I have taken a dislike to the "extra" right mouse button above the keyboard.
It is programmed as a Back button

Let us know how you go.

Thanks for the help everyone. And I noticed that it didn't happen when I typed all the y's in this sentence so obviously it comes and goes.
