I am trying to get some quotes on biulding an acrylic tank. ANybody have any experience or know anybody who has done this ?

Needing some advice and any lessons learned, I have to get it 100% correct first time, as it will cost $$$$$$$$$

Can i ask why acrylic?

I've worked with acrylic for many years and can honestly say its extremely hard to keep clean of blemishes and scratches.

Many of my old supplies deal direct to businesses (i.e. wholesalers) however i'm pretty sure Plastics Australia http://www.plasticsaust.com.au would help you. They are Brisbane based but worth contacting.
One offs are always more expensive than large quantities. Your looking at 200-300% markup usually.
Thin acrylic in time will always bow/bend due to weathering and heat.
Ensure you ask for beveled edges and a flame polish.
There are specialist glues for acrylic which require a UV light to dry. I highly recommend it for a clear/clean finish but this glue can snap under certain pressures.

For someone local try asking around your local signage places. Sign makers always deal with acrylic.

I will go and get a quote using glass this week.

I also plan to make a wire frame model actual size to make sure I get the proportions correct.

Why don't you just use a single set of three baffles insted of 2 sets of 2 baffles .

don't know why, I just thought as the sump is small 380mm long x 250mm wide I would just create three sections. Do you have a sketch or link ?

I have never done a Saltwater sump

There is nothing wrong at all with , what you have done :)

there are millions of different types of pump designs, this is a simple type that i have drawn :) its not to scale or anything. just i think IMO that the 1 set of 3 baffles is better to get rid of the micro bubbles :)

cheers
