I've had this pair since 25 April & they are still in their own 72G QT.

Some of you may know Rod & Darren, members from QLD. Darren is a sponsor here. These fish were bred in Darren's tank, raised in Rod's tank & now they're mine. I'm told they had not bred before they came to me, as they are only young adults. About 3-4 weeks ago, they started laying eggs. Almost like clockwork you could count on seeing the eggs either Friday or Saturday. Anyway, last Sunday, all the eggs were gone, so i figured infertile again & cleaned up by the parents.

Anyway, last Monday night I see fry swimming around. The tank is far too big & the parents & fry have lost each other. They're not even looking for each other. The parents hang near the bottom & the fry hang near the surface. I'm surprised the fry are still alive, since the parents aren't feeding them. I have been squirting BBS at them, but I don't think they've eaten. I wonder how long they will last.

It may take a few weeks, but now that I know they are a fertile couple, I will arrange a 20G breeder for them. That should work better. In the meantime, I have lowered the water to the lowest level that the canister filter can still run (sponges cover the intake).
