Hi All,
As I am planning to set up my new 6'x2'x2' planted discus community tank, I was wondering if two FX5's would be too much flow for a (hopefully) fully planted tank, Discus style.

It was either going to be (2)x Eheim 2080's, (2)x FX5's or 1 of each.
I know the (2)x Eheim's would most likely be fine, but I'm not sure about (2)x FX5's.

It's just that the FX5 is quoted as having a flow rate of 3,500ltr/hr and the Eheim is 1700ltr/hr.

And yes, Eheim 2080 is better then the FX5, but and the FX5 is soooo... much cheaper and the FX5 hasn't got a bad write up.

Many Kindly Fishy Regards
Jason

if ou aim the outlet of the fx5 at the walls of the tank, flow shouldn't be a problem, my advice would be go with 1 of each and make up your own mind, i kinda know wich one you'll be replacing in a year or two.

initial outlay of cost will be recouped in electricity bills. Compare the wattage! Take a little bit longer saving. Patience will make you happier in the long run. 8-)

The pump on the Eheim is rated at 1700lph and the filter is rated at 1200lph when full of media. It actually gets 1207 lph in real word conditions. The FX5 pump is rated at 3500lph but the filter is only rated for 2400 lph flow when full of media and the FX5 only gets 1991 lph in real world conditions.
FX5's tend to clog, break not work ... often.
